FAQs

Does my child have to take a LAMDA exam?

Absolutely not. There is zero pressure to take an exam. There are huge benefits to taking an exam (motivation, something to work towards) however, you can still benefit hugely from taking LAMDA classes even if you choose to not work towards an exam.

How long are lessons?

Lessons are 30 minutes each, however there will be times when we can extend this to 45 mins or 60 mins, especially as we approach the exam date.

What grade should my child take?

Exams are open to anyone wanting to gain confidence through drama and there are no age restrictions. You can jump in at any grade. This will be something we can discuss after I have had a few lessons with your child to decide which grade we think is appropriate.

Which exam should my child take?

There are lots to choose from, so picking which one to start with is something we can spend some time on if your child comes to lessons unsure of which direction to take. What are they passionate about and what would they like to learn?

Do they prefer giving a speech or do they like exploring the world of a character?

Do they prefer poetry or public speaking?

Would they prefer to take the exam with a friend or would they like to go solo?

How many lessons will my child have per term?

Students will have, on average, 10 lessons per term. Due to the number of home weekends plus half-term, students scheduled on a Friday or Saturday will have the opportunity to rearrange lessons on these weeks so that they can still be seen if they choose.

Is there any written work in a LAMDA exam?

All LAMDA exams are practical, and there is no written element.
